Empowering vulnerable women towards a safe start
HerSafeStart provides compassionate, community-led support services to help women rebuild their independence, access crucial resources, and step forward into a secure future.
How we provide support
At HerSafeStart, we understand that leaving an abusive or unhealthy situation is not the end of the journey - for many women, it is the beginning of rebuilding a life where they feel safe, supported and in control again.
Our support is centred around you. We provide a safe, compassionate and non- judgemental space where women can talk openly about what they have experienced, understand their options and begin taking practical steps towards their next chapter.
What support can look like
Every woman’s situation is different, so our support is tailored to her individual needs.
This may include:
- Emotional support - having someone listen without judgement and helping you feel less alone.
- Practical Guidance - helping you identify the steps and services that may be available to you.
- Safety focused support - helping you consider practical safety measures and signposting you to specialist domestic abuse services where appropriate.
- Legal Referrals - where legal advice or representation is needed, we can refer you to an appropriate legal professional or organisation through our referral pathway.
- Housing and financial signposting - helping you explore relevant support and services when housing or financial stability is apart of your journey.
- Rebuilding confidence - supporting you as you work towards independence, self- belief and a sense of identity outside of your experiences.
- Ongoing encouragement - because rebuilding does not happen overnight. Sometimes having someone in your corner can make all the difference.
You don’t have to have everything figured out. You do not need to know exactly what you need before reaching out.
You might be thinking about leaving. You may have already left but feel completely overwhelmed by what comes next. You may need help understanding your options, finding the right service, rebuilding your confidence or simply having someone listen.
You can start where you are
HerSafeStart is not intended to replace the specialist services that women may need. Instead, we aim to bridge the gap between experiencing abuse and accessing the right support.
Where appropriate, we can signpost or refer women to specialist domestic abuse organisations, legal professionals, housing services, mental health support, safeguarding services and other relevant professionals.
Our goal is simple:
“To help women move from surviving to rebuilding - with safety, support and choice at the centre”
If you are in immediate danger, please contact the emergency services on 999. If you are not in immediate danger but need specialist domestic abuse support, we can help you explore appropriate services and referral options.
